The Wilde Whippet 1km

The Wilde Whippet 1km

Gather up your little speedsters and join the Wilde Whippet 1km kids’ running extravaganza!

The best part? It’s FREE, just turn up on the start line in time – no need for pre-registration!

Kicking off and wrapping up at Mahy Reserve this 1km dash starting at 2:30pm is a perfect way for your fun-loving kiddos to dive into the thrill of their very first running event!

The course will depart and finish at Mahy Reserve as will be a part of the fun at the Ōhope Beach Festival. Exact course TBC so check back again later for more details.

NOTE: This is not at the main event village in 2026!

Every Wilde Whippet runner will snag:

  • A shiny finisher certificate
  • A deliciously healthy treat at the finish line

Just a heads up: Wilde Whippets must be 10 years old or younger on race day. If your little one is under 6, then they will need their parent or legal guardian as their trusty sidekick!

So, feel free to join the fun and run/toddle/waddle alongside your kids in their debut event, or if you’re feeling adventurous, why not tackle the one of the longer distances yourself? You’ll be back in time to have them cheer you across the finish line and still get them on down to Mahy Reserve for their race!
