When are entries open? Entries are now open and will remain open until midnight on the 5th February 2025 unless sold out prior. There will be limited entries available at race registration on a first come first served basis (if the event is not sold out prior).

The distance I want to enter is sold out. Is there a waiting list? Please email entries@suntosurf.nz to register your interest should additional entries come available.

Can I pay my entry in instalments? No sorry, we are not able to offer this payment option this year.

What is included with my entry?

I need to update my entry details. Where do I do that? Through EventPlus, CLICK HERE to log in. If you need to reset your password email entries@suntosurf.nz

I want to change my distance. How do I do this? Please email entries@suntosurf.nz

Is there an option for event insurance to protect your entry should you have to withdraw? Yes! CLICK HERE and scroll down to ‘Event Insurance’ for all you need to know about getting your entry covered.

Do I have to pre-register my child for the Wilde Whippet? No, you just register on the day in person.

Where can I view the waiver I agreed to when entering this event? CLICK HERE

Can I transfer to next years event instead? No sorry. Please refer to the cancellation policy here.

Can I transfer my entry to a friend? Yes, please refer to entry waiver for fees and transfer cut-off dates.

Is there any compulsory gear? There is NO compulsory gear for Sun To Surf. Although a solid pair of shoes, sunscreen, comfy clothing, and good vibes are always appreciated!

Do you have a bag/gear drop service? No sorry. Please arrange safe keeping of your belongings with a trusted friend or in your vehicle. We recommend leaving your valuables at home too.

Where is official event parking? Due to the event’s location parking will be on-street parking only. Please consider car-pooling (or being dropped off) where possible. Please respect all parking and traffic management signs on neighbouring streets.

Will there be any Road Closures during the races? There will be no temporary road closures for this event. There will be traffic management operating a Stop/Go system at the start of each race at the intersection of Harbour Road, Charles Street, and Port Ōhope Wharf.

Will there be any Boat Ramp or Wharf closures at Port Ōhope? The boat ramp located behind Fisherman’s Wharf Resturant at the Port Ōhope Wharf will be CLOSED for the entire day on the 8th February. There will be NO ACCESS available to the boat ramp. Please use another of Ōhope’s excellent boat ramps to launch your boat at on this occasion. Port Ōhope Wharf will remain open to commercial operations on event day.

Where can I find the course map for my race?

What terrain are the courses run on? 

  • 21km: Road/berm, beach/sand (approx 550m), and trails (mix of grass and dirt tracks)
  • 10km: Road/berm and trails (mix of grass and dirt tracks)
  • 5km: Road/berm
  • Wilde Whippet: trails (mix of grass and dirt tracks)

Are there toilets available at the Start/Finish Area? Sure are!

Are there toilets along the course? Yes! There are toilets in close proximity to EVERY aid station. If you cannot see the toilets please ask one of our friendly volunteers and they will direct you to them.

NOTE: This is a cupless event. Please bring your own reusable cups, bottles, or other hydration container.

I don’t have a cup for aid stations, do you have any? There will be collapsale, reuable cups for sale at the FuelMe stand at registration for $6ea. Or you can pre-order yours for collection at registration by clicking here.

Can I wear headphones during the race? Headphones, earbuds, etc. must NOT be worn when out on the course. This is an important safety measure due to all of our events being on (or alongside) a public road where moving vehicles will be present.

Can I bring my dog with me on the race? As special as your pets are, no dogs or pets are permitted on the course – with the exception of registered service dogs.

Where can I find my official race results? The will be listed here once available.

Are there on course athlete photos available to download? This isn’t currently something we offer. But we have official event photographers and social media teams out and about. Keep an eye on our Facebook & Instagam pages for these post event.

Do you have official event merchandise available to buy? Not yet – but if you think this is something you want to see us offer let us know!
