Running categories (male and female): 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Walking category (open): 1st, 2nd, 3rd. No cut off times for this distance. Minimum age is 14 on event day. No forms of wheeled conveyance permitted in any event. No headphones/earbuds with music playing. No pets during your participation.
Serving up one of New Zealand’s most stunning beachside routes, the course starts near the entry to the Golf Course and makes its way to the finish area under the canopy of Pohutukawa trees at Mahy Reserve. There you can enjoy post-race entertainment including live music, craft food and beverage stalls, and prize-giving.
The 10km is fast and flat, if you are out to set a personal best, this is a great place to do it!
The Sun to Surf 10km Run & Walk comprises approximately 95% on road, with a couple of short stints on grass and compact sand.
10km event entrants will receive:
- A personalised event number with your first name on it
- Official time recorded and named in the event results
- Sun to Surf performance cap (moisture management material) valued at $35
- A finisher’s medal crafted to your chosen event OR opt to donate to the Marshall-Inman Whakaari Trust, or Coast Care
- Aid stations and event recovery area with access to water
- Opportunity to win fantastic spot prizes
- Post-event entertainment at Mahy Reserve
